Essential information

  • Use one stable sequence: analyse, plan, draft and review.
  • Make every paragraph perform a function required by the prompt.
  • After feedback, rewrite independently and transfer the change to a new task.

What you need to know

Use the same four-stage process for every writing task: analyse the instruction, build a small plan, draft for the reader and purpose, then review the highest-impact errors. The structure stays stable while the message type changes.

Pack Ayoub’s unlimited simulations let you repeat this process on 29 recent topics. After AI feedback, close the corrected version and rewrite independently so the improvement belongs to your next response—not only to one polished model.

Turn the instruction into a checklist

List the purpose, recipient, required information, document type, register, and any length constraint. Keep this checklist visible in your plan and verify it again before finishing.

Draft from a small plan

Assign one function to each paragraph. Select vocabulary that is precise and natural for the context. If a complex sentence becomes difficult to control, divide it into two accurate sentences.

Rewrite after feedback

Corrections matter only when they change your own production. After reviewing educational feedback, close the corrected version and rewrite the passage. Compare the two attempts and record the pattern you want to catch next time.

Original example: make a request answerable

Practice exercise

Replace the vague sentence ‘I want information about your evening course’ with a short, useful request.

Suggested answer

I am interested in your evening conversation course. Could you tell me which days sessions take place and what time they finish? I work until 6 p.m., so I would also like to know whether arriving at 6:30 would be possible.

Why this answer works

The request identifies the course and selects information the recipient can provide.

The work constraint explains the last question without adding an unrelated personal story.

Plan functions, not decorative phrases

A paragraph can establish context, explain a problem, narrate a useful event, compare positions or propose a solution. Naming the function prevents several paragraphs from repeating the same point.

Choose connectors after identifying the relationship. ‘However’ cannot create a real contrast if the ideas do not oppose one another. Meaning should control the connector, not the reverse.

Review high-impact problems first

  1. 1

    Completeness

Verify every requested action and piece of information.

  2. 2

    Coherence

Check chronology, references and relationships between paragraphs.

  3. 3

    Personal error list

Review the small number of grammar and spelling patterns you repeatedly make.

  4. 4

    Length and ending

Confirm the required constraints and make sure the document genuinely concludes.

A correction is not the final product

If a tool proposes a polished paragraph, identify the change you understand, close the suggestion and reproduce the operation on a different prompt. That transfer—not copying—is the learning evidence.

Keep the sequence while changing the task logic

The analysis–plan–draft–review sequence remains stable, but the paragraph functions change. A request foregrounds context and action; a narrative selects events and effects; a comparison preserves source positions before adding your view.

Create a separate checklist for each task type. A universal template often fails because it confuses the communicative purpose even when its grammar is correct.

Test the method under time pressure gradually

First learn the sequence without rushing. Then set limits for analysis and review while preserving task coverage. Record which stage exceeds the budget instead of only noting that the whole task was slow.

Repair the bottleneck directly: quicker instruction marking, a smaller plan or a personal review list. Repeatedly cutting drafting time without identifying the cause can reduce quality without improving control.

Turn the error log into a writing tool

Record the original phrase, the corrected relationship and one new sentence that uses the same pattern. Group entries by function—reference, tense sequence, agreement, preposition or connector—rather than by the date on which the mistake appeared.

Before a new task, review only a short personal selection. During the final pass, look for those patterns in context. Remove an item from the active list only after it remains controlled across several independent texts.

Frequently asked questions

How much time should planning take?

Keep the plan short enough to protect drafting time but complete enough to prevent missing an instruction. Measure your own process during timed practice.

Should I correct grammar before content?

Check task completion and organisation first. Perfect grammar cannot repair a response that addresses the wrong purpose.

Can I reuse a template?

Reuse functional structures, not fixed content. Adapt the recipient, register, actions and argument to every prompt.
